Hi lovely modders!
I'm SpeedCookie and this is my first "external"/appearance modification :-)
This is an easy (and free) way to make your Retaliator a bit cooler (and make it look a little tiny bit more like an assault rifle).
I'm really really sorry for the blurry pictures but i guess you can still see what has to be seen :/
This is a "Before/After" picture so you can see what changed.
So this is my Retaliator. In the inside, i've done the basic performance uprgades (Locks and Air Restrictor removal, Dead space reduction, Lubing).
I still want to paint it but i can't find good colors combinations so i'll keep it unpainted for the moment
The stock is detachable and i guess should work on a srtyfe or any other similar blaster.
THE GUIDE: (The numbers before each step represents the circles from the picture below)
1) Firstly, you have to remove the orange tubing under the stock, it's easily done by opening the stock and simply pulling the tubing out.
You want to keep it safe because we are going to need it after!
(Optional) You can also seal 2 of the holes left in the stock with fiberglass or any other epoxy putty (you want to keep the one closer to the handle open, to place the "thumbhole stock" thing in!
4) Then you want to open the front attachment to make the extended barrel/muzzle.
It's pretty easy and you can do it in 2 ways:
The short way (just place the ridge of the orange barrel on to the first spot then trim a little of the orange end pieces so that the barrel fits)//(the one i chose)
Or the long way (place the ridge all the way at the end of the barrel)//(this picture is not mine, found on google images)
5) You also want to take out the flip-up sight and keep it safe too to place it somewhere else after.
Once that is done, take your orange tubing back and cut it at the middle point (as seen on the picture) and keep the 2 pieces.
You can use sandpaper to smooth the cutting line.
2) Take the most angled one and hot glue it to the barrel extension you just made, to create a m4 style "sight".
3) Next step is to take the other orange tubular piece and place it in the first hole in the stock in a way that it makes a kind of "thumbhole" stock.
You can then glue it (or fiberglass or epoxy putty) inside the hole while keeping it straight.
You can choose to glue it to the stock only or to the stock AND the blaster, (i chose to glue it to the stock only so that it can still be detachable).
I also reinforced it with fiberglass to make it stronger, as your palm might hit it sometimes.
NOTE: I have a pretty "fat" hand and the thumbhole doesn't restrict my hand, it's right at the good size for me but you can adjust it for your preferences.
5) Lastly, you take the flip-up sight you removed and take the foldable part out (just remove the little screw).
Then cut or sandpaper the little round thing between the 2 parts (so that you can have a "clear" vision through it)
Cut it around the same spot i did (you can choose where you want to cut it) and flatten the bottom of it with sandpaper.
Glue it then to the stock (on top of the stock attachement point) as seen on this picture in a way that it aligns with the "sight" thing we glued to the barrel earlier.
And that's pretty much it
